Tire balancing and wheel alignment

When your tires are balanced and aligned they reduce tire wear, last longer, drive safer, and perform better. Go Auto technicians can ensure your tires are properly aligned so that your suspension and steering are working correctly.

Wheel alignment and wheel balancing are two totally different things, but they are often confused. Wheel alignment is when the angles of the wheels are adjusted so that they are parallel to each other and perpendicular to the ground. Proper alignment is crucial to maximum tire longevity. Wheel balancing, on the other hand, allows the tires and wheels to spin without causing any vibrations.

You know your car is out of alignment when there is unever wear or rapid wear on your tires or if you find that your vehicle drifts to one side. You know your wheel is out of balance if it vibrates at higher speeds, if the seats or floorboards vibrate, or if there are signs of irregular (cupped) wear on your tires.

Tire Rotation

A lot of drivers are unaware that tire rotation helps to prolong the life of their tires and make riding more comfortable. Tire rotation is the process of taking off all four tires and installing the rear ones on the front, and the front ones on the rear.

Each tire on your vehicle is supporting a different weight, which means that some tires are wearing down faster than others. In order to prolong the life of your tires, you should rotate your tires every 10,000 km.

Our certified technicians can perform your rotation, while also checking for uneven wear and misalignment, imbalance, or other mechanical problems before the tires get rotated. Even if tires do not show any visible signs of wear, they should be rotated to help extend tread life and promote even wear.

Tire Repairs & Replacements

Our certified Go Auto technicians are happy to help you determine if you need to repair or replace your tires, and then what type of tire you should be investing in. You can expect expert service, high-quality tires, and the right advice for any make or model.

If a tire is losing its air pressure it needs to be removed from the wheel and inspected to make sure the tire isn't damaged. If the tire has been driven on while flat for more than a short distance then it may be damaged beyond repair.

Most punctures, cuts, and nail holes can be repaired by our expect techs, though (as long as the damaged is tread-based). Sidewall punctures are generally not repairable, as are punctures larger than a quarter of an inch.

Tire Inflation

Not only do properly inflated tires last longer, increase mileage, and improve handling, but most tire problems are caused from under-inflated tires. Our happy to help technicians you find the air pressure that’s right for your vehicle and driving style.

The amount of air required to properly inflate a tire depends on the size and type of tire, the size and weight of your model, the standard load you carry, and typical driving conditions. A tire that is properly inflated will provide safe driving, maximum traction, good handling and optimum tire life.

If you decide to inflate your tires beyond the recommended pressure you will reduce rolling resistance, which means you will have better fuel economy. However, this will lead to a bumpier ride and your risk of tire damage increases.
